Review of Riddick (2013) by Brittany M — 05 Feb 2014
Riddick is a cheesy, unrealistic, and ugly film to watch that attempts to copy Pitch Black's perfection. At first the movie started out alright and the creatures I found to be awesome and creative, I got so very excited to where they were going to take it in the next half of the movie. This is where it bombed, it's as if they completely scraped the whole concept they were building up and changed script and directors.
Riddick ends up finding an outpost, and one team arrives that seems to be okay, then the second arrives and the badass first team suddenly gets a change of character which made no sense. Then almost directly after the rest of the movie turned into a horrible mess attempting to copy pitch black, from the creatures to the darkness. It was unoriginal and filled with crappy and cheesy character development and humour. Especially the annoying lesbian chick who was suddenly straight because of Riddick even though Riddick hated people and lost someone he loved in Pitch Black who was actually a wonderful character.
Honestly I'm being very generous giving this one star. As this movie was a suffer from the half point. It should not have happened and now I feel sick thinking about it, not even the cgi was good.
