Riddick (2013).

This is a continuation of the Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and Pitch Black (2000). There are many who have really been wanting to see more of this franchise, even having a big letter-writing campaign. For others, it may not be their cup of tea. I'm more into that former category. If you're familiar with the franchise, you'll know what your getting. The fact that this is R rated means that they pull out all of the stops.

Richard Riddick (Vin Diesel) is the ultimate bad-ass anti-hero. From wanted fugitive, to king of the Necromongers and then blindsided, marooned, and left for dead on a deserted planet. Riddick falls back on his talent for survival and even befriends a wild dog-like animal.

When he finds that some seasonal rains are coming that will bring about deadly water-born creatures, he activates an emergency beacon from an abandoned scientific outpost. Rather than getting help the beacon alerts two space ships filled with bounty hunters that are after him. One is a ragtag motley crew ran by Santana (Jordi Mollá). The other is a mercenary group led by Boss Johns (Matt Nable) who is the father of William Johns, the guy bringing Riddick in from Pitch Black.

I can't go without mentioning one of Boss John's operatives, Dahl (Katee Sackhoff) who is well worth the price of the movie rental. :-) She does her fair share of kicking ass and isn't very hard to look at. ;-).

Naturally, Riddick holds his own, but is anxious to get off this planet before the swarms of killer creatures come out to feed.
