Review of Ricki and the Flash (2015) by Dan G — 08 Aug 2015
In this movie, I realize how much I take Meryl Streep for granted. I've heard her sing in movies, so I wasn't surprised that she could really rock it. But it's the nuance in which she reveals her character's shallow insecurities, self-loathing and narcissism that gives her character a vulnerable complexity that somehow redeems her obvious inability to nurture others.
Her daughter, Mamie Gummer was also quite good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie.
