Review of Ricki and the Flash (2015) by Drew M — 22 Aug 2015
The main reason to see this film is the talented performance of Meryl Streep. I'm not seeing Oscar nomination number twenty coming for this movie, but I am predicting a golden globe nomination in the musical or comedy best actress category.
Like so many of her other rolls she manages to pull off the rock star look very well. I give good reviews to the rest of the cast which include Kevin Kline, Gracie Gummer, and everyone else. There are some laughable moments, but the script is pretty weak.
I felt the story could've been stronger and a real touching family drama. There are a lot of familiar and lovable music numbers as well. Overall the film is entertaining, you will not be bored. I would not declare this a must see, but if you're a big fan of Meryl Streep, see it! My grade=81%(B-).
