Review of Ricki and the Flash (2015) by Elaine M — 08 Aug 2015
Meryl Streep won't win any academy awards over Ricki and the Flash but watching her sing Drift Away with Rick Springfield will make you smile and love her as the best actress of her generation.
This is a movie about family, love and redemption. And it's not very good at any of these things. However it's a good movie about rocknroll dreams and reminding us why rock has been the most transformative music in history.
I don't think this movie is great by any means and while it's pleasant, it's also largely irrelevant. However it's hard not to love a mother singing Bruce Springsteen at her son's wedding. That rocks and it's worth the price of admission.
