Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Marcus B — 08 Jan 2012
On one side, it's a great depiction of people who are miserable in their everyday life, but are so used to their situation that they are no longer able or willing to improve their lot. So if that was the goal of this movie, then it's an instant classic. On the other hand, I'm not sure that there are many people who will actually enjoy this movie. I know that I didn't - it was ponderous, it was heavy-handed and actually quite predictable.
One thing that saves this movie from being an absolute sleeping pill is the acting of the leading pair. One wishes that a reunion of Winslet and DiCaprio was used for something not as drab as "Revolutionary Road", but they are so damn competent at their jobs that they actually manage to make this movie watchable.
