Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road is visually beautiful, well directed and written, and marvelously accompanied by Thomas Newman's brilliant original score, but it wouldn't have shined this bright if it wasn't for Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's fantastic performances as the leading young marriage that looks perfect, but lives an unsatisfactory life, and Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon's oustanding supporting roles.
