Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Robert V — 17 Dec 2011
Sometimes there are movies that come along and perfectly capture the human condition. And in even rarer cases sometimes a movie goes beyond searing and starts to hit you where you live. And Revolutionary Road accomplishes both with an authenticity that's scary.
DiCaprio and Winslet are perfect, that's the only fitting adjective I can think of right now. Michael Shannon steals the 2-3 scenes he's in with ease and if not for Heath he would deserve an oscar for supporting actor. Sam Mendes continues to get better! His direction is subtle but he hits every tone and idea right on the nose. And the ending manages to sum up the entire movie and that entire time in america...ignorance is bliss.
