Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by John935 — 09 Nov 2015
Just watched this a 2nd time and my impression that it's underrated was confirmed. A movie is not a book, agreed, but this is a careful adaptation of the 1961 novel. The film is anchored by 4 brilliant performances, Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon in addition to Winslet and DiCaprio.
Those who haven't seen it should be warned: the 2nd half gets very sad. Movies about a marriage gone wrong are hard to get right and often difficult to sit through. Somehow this one manages to get all elements in synch and this viewer was in awe.
Unusually good and it holds up well the 2nd time.
