Review of Revolutionary Road (2008) by Becquerm — 15 Feb 2009
"Revolutionary Road" is only poignant (as a movie) for its commendable investigation into the suffocating nature of suburbia and its ability - somewhat - to imbue its audience with the necessary degree of pessimism to escape it; cinematically, however, this movie fails on several counts: it fails to escape - or provide a nuanced version - of the traditional narrative of the 'couple,' it fails to provide any worthy performances, and it fails to do any justice to its laudable inspiration: Richard Yeates' arresting 1961 novel.
