Review of Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love (1994) by I Don't Know W — 22 Aug 2011
Revenge of the Nerds is an interesting movie franchise, because none of the sequels were good, yet they were still made. Each subsequent offering got progressively worse, with the series ultimately culminating in this anus-stretching, peanut-filled turd of a film.
The fact that it was made-for-TV (also for 3D viewing with aid of cheap 3D glasses, for those that don't remember) was an obvious sign that it would royally suck. Why was it necessary to censor Revenge of the Nerds (to a kindergarten-esque degree, might I add) to satisfy the moral sensibilities of the puritanical contingent of the home-viewing audience? Case in point.
Booger's infamously classic "Who Farted" T-shirt from the original was replaced by a "Who Pooted" T-shirt in ROTN IV. FML. Couldn't they have just omitted that ridiculously childish euphemism (what is wrong with farted, BTW?), leaving a plain white T with cigarette burns augmented and deep yellow pit stains indelibly embedded? They removed any of the raunchy credibility that the appropriately boorish character nicknamed Booger might have had left.
This film was basically devoid of any laughs and is deserving of one star, yet I still give it two because the first installment in the Revenge of the Nerds saga is a classic, and one of my favorites of all time.
