Review of Revelator (2017) by Jimmkeens — 11 Sep 2017
Saw an advance screening for Revelator (2017) and I have to say that for all its constraints (perhaps in spite of them) the film proves an ambitious, intriguing indie that walks the line between a ghost story and a murder mystery in a way that the majority of films of its ilk can't manage.
The central mystery to the film strays from the run-of-the-mill whodunit gradually, and leads the audience down a rabbit hole into the obscure and occult. The production and performances are subtle and understated, and the photography equally deliberate. Revelator is a slow, methodical exercise in deception frankly unlike any "indie horror" you're likely to see, and for that it's worth your time.
