Review of Returner (2002) by Eka A — 25 Mar 2008
I picked this film up at my local video store on a whim. I was actually looking for a couple of different movies that they didn't have, saw this, read the back, and decided that this movie was going to be good, in the "bad movie" way.
I, however, was pleasantly surprised. Granted there wasn't an original idea in the flick, even the score was ripped from American Beauty and the Matrix, but nonetheless I enjoyed it. I was entertained throughout and was impressed with the overall quality of the film, both with the plot and sfx.
The film would've garnered a half-a-star more from me if one scene in particular wouldn't have paused the film, circled a plot point and wrote "Look Here" instead of using a subtler approach.
I actually saw the thing that they pointed to before they stopped the film and pointed out the obvious. Anyway, suprising film, pretty good rent if you wanna decent scifi/action flick.
