Review of Return to Oz (1985) by Mike S — 10 Aug 2009
Not how I remember it as a kid, but an interesting sequel (of sorts), which seems to be more in line with how the book imagined Oz, and how all the 'other' versions of the Wizard of Oz looked. The Scarecrow, the Lion and especially the Tin Man (none of whom are in it much).
Let down a little by the 1980's style of fantasy and effects, but still interesting right to the end.
Its amazing that considering there were many books, this is the only version that I know of based on any of the others (this is based on Books 2 & 3).
The Pumpkin Head annoyed me a bit.
