Review of Return to Oz (1985) by Chantal B — 19 Oct 2014
One of my new favourite movies. Possibly the most faithful adaption of the books, and yet a cinematic classic in its own right. The stop motion animation has the most wonderful aesthetic, and Dorothy is a great character, full of vulnerability and courage, resourceful and quickthinking.
This film includes many of the characters from the books not in the original film, and chooses a whole new, darker tone that is truly unique.
