Review of Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007) by Jeffrey L — 04 Nov 2007
Surprisingly, this direct-to-video sequel was just as good as the first, if not better. Sure, the characterization isn't nearly as good, but the kills are more inventive, the atmosphere is just as good, they explore more of the house, as well as re-visit old locations, and it explains more about the history behind the house.
On the downside, the acting is pretty bad for the most part and some of the characters look almost exactly alike that its easy to get them confused with each other. Also, the 'twists' sucked majorly.
Still, if you're a fan of the first movie, or haunted house movies in general, I say give this one a shot. Only huge major disappointment is that the evil dark ghost thing from the first movie doesn't even so much as get a mention here, much less any screen time, which is a shame cause they could have easily slid in an explanation for it in this movie, with the whole mythical Idol plot.
