Review of Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988) by Nathan H — 23 Sep 2007
Hits all the marks for a great, cheesy '80s horror comedy. You want bad rock ballads and a synth-heavy pop soundtrack? You want bad haircuts and tight, awful jeans? You want special-effect lightning that seriously looks as if it has been drawn onto the film? "Return of the Living Dead Part II" is going to satisfy all those cravings.
Of course, the first film (no real classic, but enjoyable in its own right) is a bit better, but this tongue-in-cheek flick succeeds for one main reason: the zombies are remarkably fake-looking (in a fun way, like something out of "Ghostbusters"), and they actually scream out "BRAINS!" and bite people's heads. Beat that.
