Review of Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988) by Brandy C — 09 Apr 2009
Good grief.
This is a kid's movie inexplicably rated R and featuring brain-eating zombies. Seriously. There's very little profanity, a stunning absence of nudity (more disappointing considering Linnea Quigley's.... Er, clothing impaired performance in the first one), next to no gore at all, and most of all...
.... A lack of partying.
Seriously, it's a fucking disappointment. It's all about this kid who's smarter than all of the other characters, yet the most annoying. Funny how that works.
The best part is James Karen and Thom Matthews, who more or less reprise their roles from the first one (Watch it to see what I mean. Better yet, don't.). The movie's funniest (and best) moments come from those characters ending up in the same situation they were in the first movie, but being "different" characters, they exhibit a strange sense of deja-vu.
So, yeah. This movie blows asshole, and is stale and dead as the zombies that inhabit it. If you want a funny 80s zombie movie, watch the first one, because this might as well be Zombies 4 Kidz.
But it does have a scene where a girl suggestively asks her boyfriend to eat her brains as if she's the horniest girl on the face of the earth.
