Review of Return of the Living Dead III (1993) by Håvard P — 10 Dec 2009
This is a highly underrated movie. It's the Twilight of all zombie films, although it's much better then the vampiric one.
The problem is the same: Would you eat who you love or let him/her live?
In Twilight when the vampire says, "I must eat you", he just looks sadly, then everything is fine "Hey, let's play some baseball, yeah!".
In this movie, Julie's struggle between her love and the unthinkable hunger makes her a masochistic gothic punk with hundreds of piercings. She has to fight agains this hunger in every minute, and stay calm near her potential-always-next-victim, her love. Nice!
The zombies are undead creatures with human feeling burrowed deep into their rotting mind, and their feelings can make them fight against their undead state.
This is a very strong and uncommon approach, and it's sad, that this movie is one of the few with this "romanticly zombified" style.
I think it's a must for every living dead lover zombologist.
