Review of Return of the Jedi (1983) by Sharva L — 24 Jul 2014
After two hugely successful films, most people wondered if George Lucas and his team could pull off another miracle. They did in 1983 with Return of the Jedi. It's the final chapter in the original trilogy of Star Wars films and closes out all of the events seen in the first two films.
Not everything this time around is perfect on all edges, however. This was the film where the story was lacking a little bit more than it maybe should have, mainly concerning the rebels and their battle on Endor.
The film got a little bit cutesy with the introduction of Ewoks, and outside of the films, the toy lines were starting to become a little ridiculous. However, none of these are major negatives. The film still builds toward a successful and emotionally-charged conclusion.
It may be the least of the original trilogy, but it's still better than the prequels that would come sixteen years later. So it's a fantastic end to a fantastic set of films, but still leaves you wanting a bit more.
