Return of the Jedi is a fantastic film. I can certainly understand why lots of people dislike the film but as a whole I have to say, I think it's the third best Star Wars film and a damn great film in general.
It doesn't compare to the two before it, Empire and Hope. Star Wars is the one that started it off, and it's fantastic all throughout - and Empire is just one of the greatest films ever made, if not the absolute best film ever.
What this film lacks, doesn't mean it's not a good film in general. I prefer the first two for a lot of reasons but this one still has its good moments (onboard the sail barge, on Endor, the battle between Luke and Vader, while not being as good as Empire's Luke vs Vader of course.
) Jedi is a fitting end to a superb, classic trilogy.
