Review of Return of the Jedi (1983) by Craig F — 22 Dec 2015
After an intimidating opening on the Death Star, Lucas writes a silly, dragged out (it's 30 minutes!), and misogynistic rescue mission, further spoiled by his CGI "updates". Ha! Luckily, upon our return to Dagobah, the final chapter gets itself back on track again for 20 minutes or before introducing Ewoks an hour in.
'Return of the Jedi' boils down to poor writing highlighted by a handful of incredibly directed scenes, the Throne Room in particular. 'Return' gives us a satisfying ending for Luke and Vader, but much of Han and Leia's scenes deserved better.
