Review of Return of the Jedi (1983) by Cheryl C — 29 Dec 2015
Despite being beautifully filmed and technically magnificent, George Lucas just... well, he got too "George Lucas-y" on this one. Stupid, STUPID, annoyingly childish jokes plus the Ewoks in general almost ruined this film for me.
In my mind, this film is the beginning of the Star Wars slump that is miraculously salvaged with Revenge of the Sith. This movie didn't have to be mediocre; there are so many reasons to love it and in many ways it is a fitting conclusion to an incredibly influential film saga.
It's just difficult to take seriously, or even stay awake through for that matter.
