Review of Retreat (2011) by May-Lene N — 23 Apr 2012
A mostly by the book home invasion thriller that plays to the conventions. It is elevated by the strong male performances, and an ending that isn't entirely expected. It's very bleak, and is patient with it's pacing.
Of course there is an abundance of dumb decisions to allow the plot to move forward. Retreat tries to slip them by you, as if it knows what they are, and rests on it's strengths.
