Review of Resurrecting the Champ (2007) by David G — 10 Nov 2007
Have you ever lied to someone you care for? Have you ever sacrificed your integrity? Have you ever wanted something so badly that you lost sight of who you really are in order to achieve it? Haven't we all? Josh Hartnett plays with a purity and vulnerability in this film...Samuel Jackson creates a contrast with his realist and philosophical approach. A beautiful film about the friendship between a boxer and a sports writer, a man and his family, the challenges of staying true to oneself, and the importance and responsibility people often choose to short change honesty.
Without being patronizing, this film asks the viewer to explore themes of morality - manages to do this through an unbiased approach and by using different perspectives.
