Review of Resurrecting the Champ (2007) by James R — 17 Mar 2008
It was like someone took the homeless, crackhead character, Tyrone Biggums, from Chappelle Show, and made a 2 hour drama with him in it, (and removed all of the comedy, except for the end sequence.) We see yet again a News/Entertainment plot line, but this time mixed with a traditional father/son honor/morality type of issue.
The only thing that really made me interested in the plot was these kids who drive up to this retired, homeless boxer and beat him up. Although the movie doesn't go into this at all, it merely happens and the characters acknowledge it.
This is a good dinner movie, but there are better things to watch. Jackson's still a great actor, just the people who made this movie seem to have the motive of a run of the mill drama.
