Review of Resurrecting the Champ (2007) by Darryl L — 04 Oct 2008
I read The Tender Bar by JR Moehringer recently. Very good novel/memoir. Later, I learned that Moehringer had written a feature in the LA Times that was the inspiration for this movie.
Samuel Jackson was very good as the homeless ex-boxer. He was very un-Samuel-Jackson-like. Alan Alda has a small role, but is such a good actor that you feel like you're getting your money's worth when he is on screen.
This was a relatively low-key movie and was more interesting than I thought it would be.
Also, it gives journalism professors another option when showing movies about journalism ethics to students.
