Review of Restrepo (2010) by Matt S — 11 Dec 2010
Most of this movie is based on one hilltop, but that hilltop is a world unto itself. The Afghan fighters seemingly come out of nowhere to attack American soldiers who are sacrificing their lives so that a road can be built to this desolate valley.
Agree or disagree with their mission, there's no way to not come away from this documentary without tremendous respect for the soldiers serving there and to feel pain for the loss of their comrades.
I'm not sure how I feel about the war in Afghanistan after watching this movie, but I appreciate that it's not trying to push me to one perspective or another - just take it all in and decide for myself.
