Review of Restrepo (2010) by Danielle M — 27 Jan 2011
This documentary follows a group of soldiers through a 15-month deployment in the Korangal Valley of Afghanistan... considered at the time of filming (2007) to be one of the most dangerous places on the planet.
The film's title honors both a soldier as well as Observation Post Restrepo, named as such for that soldier when his life is taken fairly early on. It's one thing to watch a war "movie" and be overcome with emotion for the events depicted.
.. to invest in a character who's wounded or killed. It's another to watch the real thing... meet real people... and witness the loss of real lives. We should all see and know and understand.
