Review of Restrepo (2010) by Dana A — 02 Feb 2011
I am really fascinated with documentaries where the camera crew manages to come out of filming alive. This was a harrowing and one of the most dangerous documentaries I've ever seen. Its more then just following these guys around in the most deadliest valleys in Afghanistan, its about survival, death, isolation and psychological breakdown one can have under these extreme pressures.
These children and at times we see them act like children, horse-playing with each other are thrown into a world where they've never experienced, something they could never prepare for. This is war, this not for entertainment, its brutal and doesn't shy away from being honest.
It is an eye opening film that highlights the courage and humanity of those who fight and die.
