Review of Restrepo (2010) by Tom B — 18 Feb 2011
Real war video documentary.
Firstly, this is a real specialist film. Restrepo is simply a movie diary look-back by American soldiers on their war experiences in Afghanistan. It is interesting, insightful and painfully real, but will not be many people's taste or choice.
The film is directed by two journalists, embedded with one platoon, defending an outpost called Restrepo, after a fallen soldier. It is arguably the best documentary film of 2010.
It is well shot, edited and alternates between action and close-up accounts. This is perfect for TV or war fans/followers, admirable and a valuable, needed piece of film.
