Filmmakers imbedded for a year with a US infantry platoon in the most dangerous valley in Afghanistan show these soldiers up close and personal as they dodge daily fire, shore each other up with music and humor, and weep with each other over lost friends.
Hand-held shots without commentary allow the daily grind of their work to speak for itself. It's a stark reminder that war is fought by living, breathing, feeling human beings; and it's hard to watch it without wondering why on earth our troops are still there.
