Review of Restrepo (2010) by Leighton T — 19 Apr 2011
Hard-nosed, dedicated journalism makes this a great doc; it also makes for an emotional ode to a young soldier who died in the midst of battle. We really come to understand each one of these men and their battle not only with the enemy, but with themselves, the psychological aspect that stands against them being stationed in this area.
The narrative (or lack thereof) allows us to understand the day-to-day trials and how every single moment their life is in danger. I was thinking this would be a strictly factual type doc, but the emotion that played into made it even more gripping.
