Review of Rest Stop (2006) by Nicole B — 04 Oct 2008
A different and unusual film about a couple who run away to Hollywood only to be separated and stalked by a lunatic psycho at a lonely, desolate rest stop. Soon, it's only the girl and then things get really weird with a family in an RV, a cop who may or may not be there (Joey Lawrence in one of his better roles. He stole the film as far as I'm concerned), and other weird things. This movie is alright, but it may be stretching for material and atmosphere that just isn't there. Let's see if the sequel can shed some more light on this plot.
Over a year later, after having just watched the sequel to this film, I can say that the first Rest Stop serves as a great companion piece with it's sequel as both manage to stretch a great story and provide decent answers to one another. As a stand-alone, this film would still warrant only three stars (or less).
