Review of Rest Stop (2006) by Rosemarie S — 19 Jan 2009
If the killers from Hostel were on a road trip across America... it would turn out something like Rest Stop. Gore-tastic, bloody, and a lot of interesting uses of pliers. Rest Stop, like Hostel, has the potential for greater things, but for some reason or another, fails.
The music is terrible, the actors are so laughably bad it's actually sad that they HAVE careers in film, and the story-line is confusing (are there other people in the rest room...? Is Nicole going crazy? Am I going crazy for not pressing stop during the part where the cop gets run over and then says "ouch, help" in a FLAT monotone?") I like how the movie synopsis describes rest stop as a cat and mouse game.
Try more like a retarded child playing Twister. It's just a mess really. They try to show you how everyone has their own personal demons yadda yadda yadda and that it's hard growing up (wow, I didn't know that) but it all just ends up being too preachy and boring, like a bad made for TV movie.
I don't wish to even see the sequel, unless the sequel has Jessica Biel in it. At least Jessica Biel comprehends the necessity of stripping down to a white tank top PRIOR to horrific events, and not during said events.
