As a huge, lifelong fan of the franchise since I played first played the classic RE2 in 1998 I am so tired of seeing Resident Evil adapted into laughably terrible movies. The Paul Anderson "excuse to cast my wife" movies were pretty bad but at least had arguably accurate casting and production value.

This one trades that for woke-quota casting and a budget so low you'd be forgiven for mistaking it for a YouTube fan film. On top of that they tried jamming two games into a single movie that actually occur many months apart and totally disrespected the source material by making massive and unnecessary changes to the story and characters.

Literally the only thing I can say good about it is that they did faithfully recreate some of the sets but with the amount of disrespect they showed the source material in virtually every other aspect earns this movie a giant rotten zero from me.

I hope that this thing flops hard enough to kill any potential sequel and that if Resident Evil is ever adapted into a film in the future that it is done faithfully by someone who actually understands and appreciates the games.
