Review of Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) by Trystan C — 23 Jul 2012
Do I really need to explain why this is a two star movie? You should be able to draw your own conclusions from the trailer, but in case you can't, I'll outline the big issues I had with it.
First of all, this is just an action movie with zombies. Last time I checked zombies were supposed to be scary. These ones weren't. Zombies are infinitely less scary when they're completely exposed in the nevada desert. The zonbies in this movie were about as terrifying as the putties in Power Rangers.
Second, Milla's character, Lois or Jane or something, has super powers not unlike that of a Jedi. This was pretty cool, but the only thing she used these powers for was to ward off a rogue flamethrower blast. She could have used it to make zombies explode from the inside, but nope, she stuck to her scimitars or whatever the hell those things are.
Third, the plot was a mess.
Regardless of all these things, I set my expectations low going into it, and actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit. There were lots of western elements thrown in, a genre of which I am a rabid fan, and Milla Jovovich certified herself as the babliest movie babe that no one seems to be talking about.
Yeah... That's about it.
