Review of Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) by Rob S — 08 Sep 2009
Everyone remembers spending hours fighting zombies all through the streets of Raccoon City with Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2. Then we get re-introduced to Leon as he tries to save the President?s daughter in Resident Evil 4, but what happened in the years between the two games and since the ?Resident Evil? movies don?t follow any real premise to the games we were left to wonder until now.
This is the Resident Evil movie that should have happened before the other three because it has more to do with the original story. The movie takes place seven years after the Raccoon City incident with the Umbrella Corporation no longer in business and the public still looking for answers as to why Raccoon City was destroyed. In the wake of all of that it seems like WillPharma has taken over where Umbrella left off and is trying to find a cure for the T-Virus that is spreading all over the world.
Claire since we last saw her trying to find answers to where her brother has disappeared to is now working for Terra-Save (an organization which handles search and rescue at chemical and biological attacks) is at Harvardville Airport waiting for a friend when someone releases the T-Virus as an act of Bio-Terrorism. Having been through this before Claire gathers what surviors she can and waits for rescue.
Two Special Response Team (the S.T.A.R.S of Harvardville) are about to head in when Leon (working for the Government) shows up to lead the way. After a successful rescue and the team from RE:2 back together (no there is no Ada) the story leads us to WillPharma where not only is the T-Virus stored, but the G-Virus as well. I don?t want to spoil much of the movie so you will just have to watch it.
The CGI in this movie is breathtaking and looks absolutely stunning on Blu-Ray. Capcom should have made this into a game because that is how it plays out and would have been GOTY hands down.
Resident Evil: Degeneration is a must own for any fan of the franchise or even someone who just enjoyed playing the games. It honestly does the franchise so much justice that you will not be disappointed.
