Seven years after Raccoon City disaster, and the fall of Umbrella, T-virus is unleashed again. Only persons who can stop the infection, and people responsible to it, are survivors of Raccoon City, Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy, along with determined special forces member, Angela.

This movie is not a sequel to live action RE movie, masterminded by Paul W.S. Anderson. Instead, it could be thought as Resident Evil 4.5, taking place in a canon of video games.

I liked this one. When I saw first trailer, I didn't even know that there was RE animation coming. But I was pleasently surprised. Now this feels Resident Evil. Characters are familiar and regognizable (CGI doesn't bother me), story is complex (and confusing, sometimes), just like in games. Even stiff and sometimes akward dialogue is there. But these are what make Resident Evil so damn good.

I think animation would be perfect way to continue RE films. But I hope they keep live action, and animation as separate entities. Maybe Alice could make a cameo, but other than that, keep them separate.

So, fun and entertaining popcorn film, nice continuation to Resident Evil franchise. I hope there is more, maybe with Jill and Chris joining Leon and Claire.

Oh, and I wish they would have released this in theaters also outside Japan. Instead we got theater release for stuff like Star Wars: Clone Wars (I know, it is Star Wars...).
