Review of Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) by Erno K — 08 Jan 2010

The biggest problem with this movie is that it doesn't feel like a Resident Evil movie, just some token zombie flick. Also, it is very shitty.

This movie was made in Japan, so of course it is a bit hard to follow, but that was a given. Moreover, they sure like to muse about life with piano music on the background. Seriously, that's like in every Japanese game I have ever played. That reminds me... I wish I could have played some game between the scenes, maybe then this film wouldn't have been so boring. All this would have been great as a game cut scene, but as a stand-alone it didn't work for me.

And what's up with women's lips in this movie? They all look too big and pouty, like they had all been injected with collagen. Characters' faces in general were a bit too shiny as well. Some lighting was pretty cool in some scenes though.

The final nail in the coffin was the censored violence. Come on, this is Resident Evil! There is supposed to be some gore. It is official now, I don't like anything RE related anymore. I hate the new games and I hate the new live action movies. Now I also hate the animations. Way to go, bastards.
