Review of Resident Evil: Damnation (2012) by Ben H — 19 Sep 2012
Resident Evil: Damnation is the second CGI animated RE film, following 2008?s Resident Evil: Degeneration. Although you don't have to watch Degeneration to enjoy Damnation as a stand alone movie, if you haven't seen it I recommend you do.
The CGI Resident Evil movies are a lot better than the live action movies in my opinion, as they follow the video game storyline a lot closer. Damnation is no different as it looks to be acting as a prequel to the upcoming Resident Evil 6 game. In this installment of the series, Leon is on a mission in a small European country, investigation rumors that Bio Organic Weapons are being used in war. What is a Bio Organic Weapon? That's right! They are creatures like, and what, we have seen before in the series.
The story is strong, but is lacking at moments in the voice acting. However, this is made up by the awesome animation and R rated action. The movie feels as if you are watching the newer generation games playing on high end consoles. It's visually stunning in all aspects. Overall, I think this movie has a better story and even looks better than the live action Resident Evil: Retribution that just came out in theaters. If you have a choice between the two, watch this movie.
A must have for your movie collection, or even just your Resident Evil collection, as it stands very re-watchable.
