Review of Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) by Nick D — 29 May 2012
Resident Evil: Apocalypse survives with being a fun action film, but sadly the plot and cast just don't do anything to be remembered. It claims to be a horror film, and I saw nothing scary about the film, and making it an action film as well is just not a mix that I enjoy.
The plot is trying to be a zombie survival film, but it ends up just being one big mess with a lot of clichés and killing. Milla Jovovich may be a popular action star, but her acting is so droll that I cannot find her or her character likable.
As for the rest of the cast, they weren't memorable and they are just here to look cool and kill zombies. The action is indeed fun and cool, but that is the only thing I have seen the films have going for it.
I have never played the video games so you may find the story and characters more powerful than I did, but I have just not seen anything that makes this a truly a great film series. Maybe when I see the sequels I will enjoy it more, but I highly doubt it.
