Review of Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) by Indiana J — 05 May 2012
Paul W.S. Anderson's take on Resident Evil grows ever more fascinating the further 'After The End' we get. While the first was classic horror and the 2nd mediocre camp, the 3rd still stalled with classic horror tropes - the bitten survivor who hides it, climbing things to hide from zombies, and the eerie/short-circuiting underground lab - the 4th finally says "Screw zombies, let's focus on the wacky sci fi and digital bonanza" and it works a lot better.
The ending in particular has just the right amount of "Oh S***!" twists-upon-twists (I counted 5, one hard to spot, one a minute into the credits) to cap off a late-night's entertainment.
Worth a watch.
