Review of Resident Evil (2002) by David B — 29 Jan 2013
As a slickly-produced piece of trash -- and, more importantly, as an adaptation of a video game -- it holds its own, other than that, This is a good film to watch. Based on the Resident Evil games, this brings what most game adapted films don't and that's a decent story-line.
It's an action horror that you'd expect, slightly light on gore, which to be honest I was expecting a lot more of, some great simple scenes, okish CGI but not scary, which is the most disappointing thing about the film.
A little twist at the end helps you stay on edge, if sometimes slow. Good dumb horror with action. Not a classic but if your a fan of the games, you'll enjoy the little references in the film. It's well edited, better than I expected production values and is way better than some video game adapts.
