Review of Resident Evil (2002) by Lewis E — 16 Feb 2013
Game to movie adaptations are rarely amazing so I was never going to walk into this with high hopes. Probably would never have wasted my time with it if I hadn't already seen the other films that were available to me.
Something fresh seemed to be the best option. What I got was a fresh pile of garbage. The 'Ugly Betty' guy staring expressionless at Jovovich saying "I can't believe your boyfriend is going to get away with this" epitomises the terrible acting of the cast.
They overuse the whole 'something comes suddenly into the screen', so making it completely void of all its dramatic effect. The zombies look nowhere near as gruesome as they do in the games which I can only put down to a severe budget on the make-up department.
Basically encompasses everything that is usually wrong with a cheap, brainless action flick. After viewing the ratings that the sequels have commonly received, it sounds as if they should have shot this franchise in the head so there was no chance of it returning.
