An absolute disgrace to the Resident Evil name. If you're not gonna base it properly on the source material, don't even bother.
Update - watched again recently and now that the game series is utter tripe I was able to be a little more open to what this film was going for. I understand Paul Anderson wanting to do a new concept with the basic ideas of the first game, but I think the problem is that the cast is not very likable - meaning the audience fails to connect. A lot of things went on that were not explained very well, as if the film was rushing to get to the lab, and there was a distinct lack of genetic creatures (although I'm guessing this is due to budget constraints). A somewhat missed opportunity then, although it does have some entertaining moments...
