Review of Resident Evil (2002) by Panta O — 02 Oct 2011
This is the first of the Resident Evil movies and this British-German film written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and it is the best one from the franchise. Real star is Milla Jovovich but Michelle Rodriguez, Eric Mabius, and James Purefoy did their share as well. Because it is based on the same titled series of survival horror games do not expect some heavy dialogues and smart talk - the film follows amnesiac heroine Alice and a band of Umbrella Corporation commandos as they attempt to contain the outbreak of the T-Virus at a secret underground facility - and is ALL action with horror elements!
I am aware that the film received many negative reviews from critics but I liked it! And originally was commercially successful as well, grossing more than $102 million worldwide.
Enjoyed the exciting story inside the Hive, a top-secret genetic research facility owned by the Umbrella Corporation located beneath Raccoon City... and especially the scene when Alice awakens at the Raccoon City Hospital strapped to an examination table and escapes! SEEING THAT WAS ENOUGH FOR A POSITIVE REVIEW!
