Review of Resident Evil (2002) by Gharren — 04 Nov 2022
Resident Evil got a lot of criticism at its time, but for me, it's basically an action-horror classic. It is wonderfully paced, with the opening scene in the mansion setting the mood perfectly. Combine with a positively creepy soundtrack by Marilyn Manson of all people, and Milla Jovovitch's great performance, this is a more-than-just-passable video game adaptation, and very much an exception in its genre.
Unfortunately, it should also remain the high point of the series for a long time.
