Review of Reservoir Dogs (1992) by Mandela W — 08 Apr 2016
If I had been old enough or even alive in 1992 I would have probably said that reservoir dogs was one of the great indie pictures of the 90's. however now checking it out for the first time I have a slightly different opinion on it.
first and foremost this picture has a well written opening sequence. what came after was funny but also a bit strange. It did get a bit slow sometimes but it picks up not to long after it gets slow.
Michael Madsen is soooo young here. must say with the exception of him and Harvey keitel a lot of the guys here look about the same which is a pretty amazing. the cast was terrific in their roles. they all had solid chemistry with each other.
Lots of memorable costuming and scenary in this film, I can see why this is a beloved cult classic. very clever turning a potentionally sinister scene in the warehouse with the cop, into a dark comedic scene with some light hearted music. Something I've seen before but here it is most impressive. Ending was excellent. the camera angles and framing were so good here from tarantino. decent script.
Overall it is not high on my favorite taratino movie list but still a well crafted film.
