Review of Reservoir Dogs (1992) by Sean P — 20 Feb 2013
Of all the Tarantino's films that I have seen, this is the only one I actually dislike. I can't begin to fathom why this film was so influential and popular compared to other films around the same period.
It's a nice try, but I don't think Tarantino truly succeeds until his much better film, Pulp Fiction, just a few years later. I will say, the incredible dialogue is there. But the plot, unlike every other Tarantino film I have seen, is severely lacking.
The best scene in the movie is definitely the very first scene in the restaurant. But Tarantino seems to have crafted fascinating dialogue around a bunch of mostly dislikable characters, and the result, I think, is that it comes off slightly boring.
This is, of course, only my opinion, though.
